Against All Odds
When Charity Jones says, "If I can do it, anyone can", you have no excuses. With the odds stacked against her, she avoided becoming just another statistic.
Charity endured her early life witnessing domestic abuse between her parents, a drug addicted father, & poverty.
She recalls hearing her father yell at her mother and thinking 'Why doesn't she just leave?' She vowed then that she would never tolerate that type of behavior for herself.
Eventually, she broke away at 16 to move in with what would become yet another drug dependent man, her 21 year old boyfriend whom she married, had a child, & divorced shortly after. Another boyfriend followed who fathered her second child but later became abusive forcing her to choose between staying or setting out on her own. It would take her years to make that decision.
To add even more heartbreak, her father was tragically murdered in a drug deal gone bad.
At 22, she found herself with three children under the age of four to different fathers, no child support, maneuvering abusive relationships, and now, grieving as she struggled to pay for her father's funeral.
This story could have easily continued on it's demanding & difficult pattern.
However, Charity isn't your average woman. Despite having no answers, she woke every day simply putting one foot in front of the other to find them. Motivated by the love for her children, she carried on to create a new reality for her and her family.
First, she battled her way through college working two jobs while caring for three young children. Not only did she manage to coordinate all of this, she made the Dean's list and impressed one professor so much that they assisted her in finding a better quality position with opportunity for advancement. Her bosses were equally taken with her that she moved up quickly to be on par with coworkers holding masters degrees.
No doubt, from these early obstacles, is where she developed her persistence & determination. She believes in the end, everything will be ok. If it's not ok, it's not the end. No matter the challenges life throws at her, she is confident she can overcome them.
Charity has not only beaten the odds, she's obliterated them. She has opened her own luxury, pre-owned car dealership with plans to expand. But she doesn't intend to stop there. She also has other business ventures in mind for pharmaceuticals, skin care, & possibly, wealth management.
Other entrepreneurs are taking notice & seeking her as a partner. Her proven ability to overcome obstacles, dedication, honesty, and logical approach to life & business make her an attractive coworker. She advises, "If you believe in yourself, it's contagious."
Of course, her perseverance not only translates to her professional life. It also is what drives her hobbies like mountain biking - from the Ozarks of Arkansas to the countryside of Italy.
Throughout it all, Charity has been motivated by fun. In her teens, that led to difficult realities. However, it has also led to an outstanding work ethic. Work hard, play hard. Growing up, she realized if she finished her work early, she could play. Nowadays, when her work is squared away, she can spend time with her growing children, and eventually, make more time for travel.
Perhaps her most daunting task of all will be putting three kids through college at the age of 41.
Charity resides in Dallas, TX with her three beautiful children, two girls & one boy, aged 14, 12, & 10.
